Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.
He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.
Moutet saved four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
